Water-Inspired Hilton Hotel Xiaoshan: A Testament to Modern Oriental Charm

The Hilton Hotel Xiaoshan, a project that covers a total of 103,000 square meters, is a testament to Jerry Wu's ability to combine form and function in a seamless manner. The hotel's design was inspired by the city's famous waters, with the image of water being a key design element. This not only echoes the surrounding natural environment but also provides an ethereal transparency in vision, space, and spirit. The design details reflect a deep appreciation and warmth for life.

What sets the Hilton Hotel Xiaoshan apart is its intensive and fluid integration layout, which adheres to functional requirements. The design pays attention to the comfortable sensory experience and combines it with the natural environment, cultural heritage, and modern aesthetics. The hotel's realization technology is another aspect that deserves mention. The front desk, for instance, uses large white, creating an effect of infinite reverie. The background wall, adorned with glass creating a water grain effect, is soft yet exquisite. The designer also used a suspended glass partition to neatly cut the boundaries of space. The bright floating lamp, paired with the fireplace, forms an interaction of shadow and temperature.

The Qingya Chinese restaurant within the hotel creates an Oriental charm with modern aesthetic demand. The space is mainly grey, white, and brown, and the use of different materials, textures, colors, and shapes results in a rich but not fussy space. The restaurant is an example of how the design works, operates, and functions, providing a unique dining experience for guests.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was the use of the open pattern in the whole day restaurant, based on the original architectural structure. The designer made use of the limited space, forming a chic stereo feeling through interspersed metal shelves, materials, and color.

The Hilton Hotel Xiaoshan project started in February 2015 and was completed in June 2018. It is located in Hangzhou, a famous historical and cultural city. Based on Oriental aesthetics, Jerry Wu and his team used modern design language to express their esteem for nature. The design elements are mainly natural marble, which reflects the quality of the project and caters to the feelings of nature. The metal and artistic glass emphasize the contemporary sense of the whole space.

The design of this hotel has earned Jerry Wu the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation.
